Ladybirds Class
Ladybirds is the first class at Middleton Church of England Primary Academy. Miss King is our class teacher, Mrs. Bennett is our Early Years Educator and often Mrs. Bailey helps us out too! We have Nursery and Reception children in Ladybirds, we are a small class with less than twenty children in on most days.
Class News
Hello everyone,
We are entering the final term of this academic year, myself and Mrs Bennett cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by! It must mean we are having a wonderful time.
This half term our topic is France, we will be looking at French culture, including artists and musicians from the country. We will also be looking at historical figures like Napoleon, Joan of Arc and the mythical Hunchback of Notre Dame. Our topic book is 'The Bee Who Spoke' written by Al MacCuish and Rebecca Gibbon. There will be a strong focus on mini beasts this half term, we will be going on bug hunts and trying to make our own pond in the outside area as well as hatch some butterflies!
As we move further on in the academic year, the timetable will become more and more structured to help Reception children transition into key stage one. Therefore, the time Reception children have to engage in continuous provision will become less. If you have any questions about this please come and speak to me.
A weekly phonics home learning sheet will continue to be sent home to allow parents to engage with their child's phonics learning. It will include which sounds we are focusing on that week, what words we will be reading/spelling and how you can help your child to learn at home.
Ladybirds timetabled PE session will be a Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on Fridays. It is also helpful to send a spare pair of clothes in with your child in case of accidents or messy play! If you could label everything that would be super helpful.
All children should have a labelled water bottle in school. The can also bring in a healthy snack for snack time.
Your child will be sent home with a reading record, please write down any reading your child does at home, this includes being read to! This is a great way for them to earn Dojo points and have a chance at winning the weekly certificate.
Please let me know if you have any trouble accessing class Dojo, you can speak to me at school or email me at k.king@middleton.dneat.org.
Thank you.
