Ladybirds Class

Ladybirds is the first class at Middleton Church of England Primary Academy. Miss King is our class teacher, Mrs. Bennett is our Early Years Educator and often Mrs. Bailey helps us out too! We have Nursery and Reception children in Ladybirds, we are a small class with less than twenty children in on most days.

Class News

We are so excited to welcome the children back to school, we have some new starters too who we know will settle in so nicely. This half term our topic will be the United Kingdom. Please check out the planning to see what your little one will be learning in more depth.

A weekly phonics home learning sheet will be uploaded to class Dojo to allow parents to engage with their child's phonics learning. It will include which sounds we are focusing on that week, what words we will be reading/spelling

and how you can help your child to learn at home.

During the first few weeks of school all Reception children will be assessed using the statutory baseline materials that all schools will be expected to use. This is nothing to worry about, it just lets us know your child's starting point.

Ladybirds timetabled PE session will be a Friday afternoon when they have dance lessons. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on Fridays. It is also helpful to send a spare pair of clothes in with your child in case of accidents or messy play! If you could label everything that would be super helpful.

All children should have a labelled water bottle in school. The can also bring in a healthy snack for snack time. If the weather is looking warm and sunny please ensure you send your child into school with a sun hat and sun-cream.

Your child will be sent home with a reading record, please write down any reading your child does at home, this includes being read to! This is a great way for them to earn Dojo points and have a chance at winning the weekly certificate.

Please let me know if you have any trouble accessing Tapestry or class Dojo, you can speak to me at school or email me at

Thank you.

Here are some links to some really useful websites with lots of home learning resources on them for you to do with your child if you have to isolate, or if you just fancy doing some home learning!

If you have any questions about the work, please feel free to message myself or Mrs. Bennett on class Dojo.
